Fifteen keen participants braved a gale force southerly wind leaving Constantia Nek at 07h00. Whilst blustery, there was an uneventful ascent of the first peak. A refreshment break was enjoyed at the turret near the top of the second peak with about half the group climbing the turret.
The wind at the top of peak two was barreling over the top at well over gale force with only a few hardy wind freaks venturing to the weather side. Various cracks, tunnels and chimneys entertained us until we popped out at the top of the third peak where a protected lee spot was found for lunch.
A scenic alternate route down to the Vlakkenberg path was suggested by two of the party and this proved a refreshing change from the standard route. The walk down to the cars was spiced up by good views of the zip liners and the piglets.
