There are many weather-forecast websites available. No forecast is ever likely to be 100% accurate, but by looking at a few sources it is possible to get a reasonable idea what is likely to happen. This is a selection of a few that provide better forecasts than those available from the SA Weather Service.
- The SA Weather Service launched a "new" website recently which most dislike and find user unfriendly. The Cape Town forecast is available here. One of their better offerings is a seven-day summary which can be read on a mobile phone.
- Windfinder is widely used by sailors and divers for its good wind prediction and is good for coastal areas. Key advantages are that it provides a forecast at three-hour intervals and its forecast is short, snappy and easy to read. A four-day version is embedded below, which will update automatically every day. A seven-day version is available on their website, together with forecasts for other coastal areas, as well as a few inland spots.
- Weather Underground also provides a seven-day forecast at three-hour intervals. It is not as easy to read as Windfinder as it is more verbose, but some say they find it more accurate. It covers more locations in South Africa, including many inland locations.
It is worth bookmarking your preferred sites... and if you find a better site that is worth adding to the list, please let us know.
