The Annual Dinner in this year of the MCSA’s 125th anniversary was hosted by the Cape Town Section at Moyo, Kirstenbosch, on 7 May 2016. A full house of 110 people attended, including members from around the country, and a number of international guests.
The invited Guest Speaker was Dr Xavier Ledoux, a renowned French anaesthetist who pioneered the technique of regional anaesthesia for mountain accident patients. Dr Ledoux and other search-and-rescue physicians who attended the dinner had been delegates at the ICAR Medcom (International Commission for Mountain Emergency Medicine) “Spring” meeting, which was held in Cape Town for the first time, co-hosted by the MCSA and WSAR.
The mopani worms were not universally appreciated, but the occasion was a great gathering of mountaineering friends from all the MCSA sections, with the Magaliesberg Section outdoing itself by having seven former Chairmen attending.
Lucky draw prizes and other giveaways were kindly donated by CityROCK, Getaway Magazine and Go Magazine.
