An ideal day for hiking. We ascended Llandudno Ravine and then took the Yellowwood Traverse around Grootkop to the north-facing side where we ascended the ‘B’ route to the top.
After a leisurely lunch we descended towards the spine path and headed back via the Llandudo buttress route. On the way back along the spine path I surprised a 2m boomslang that reared up about a metre above the ground, and also enlarged its upper body in defence. It had rather unusual colouring that was predominately black with a white neck edged with light blue, and the usual yellow stripes on the underbelly. A magnificent specimen!
