Leader: Alec Dose 16 November 2016 Cape Point Section, TMNP

After a spell of near gale-force winds, we were lucky to encounter a “gentle breeze” for our meet on 15 November. It took us from Buffels Bay along the coastal path with beautiful views, up past Rooikrans and the overnight huts and on the Hoerikwaggo path around Da Gama Peak where we saw a few Gladiolus vigilans, which are endemic there. We diverted to the top of Da Gama Peak to inspect the remains of the WWII radar station on the summit, then quickly across the Cape Point parking area to a lunch spot nearby. The after-lunch walk took us up Cape of Good Hope Peak and down to the cars left in the parking area at the foot.
