One Shade of Grey at Steenboksberg

Leader: Ian Bradburn 30 October 2017 One Shade of Grey at Steenboksberg

It was heartening to see how much work could be accomplished by just nine willing members. The shelter received almost two full coats of grey anti-rust paint. (It would have been two entire coats, except we ran out of paint for the last part of one side).

While the sanding and painting was in progress much vegetation was cleared from the pathways in the vicinity of the shelter. Saturday night was balmy and windless, a perfect evening to spend under the stars beside a babbling brook.

Due to the 30°+ heat on Sunday the planned hike to Split Rock area was abandoned in favour of less hectic work near the stream.

The shelter still needs to be finished with the anti-rust paint before receiving its final two coats of grey roof paint soon.
