Bikers Damaging Limietberg Reserve

CapeNature 8 November 2017 Bikers Damaging Limietberg Reserve

A Club member was appalled to come across two bikers tearing up the mountainside on CapeNature land in the Slanghoekberge (Bain’s Kloof), to the west of our own property Springstygbeugel, on Sunday 5 November 2017. The bikers were quite high up, on the side of the valley about 300-400m from the path just above the Witrivier, making a great deal of noise. One of them seemed to have got stuck, and was constantly revving the engine of his motorcycle. The member was too far away to get photos identifying the culprits, but he did take these pictures of the very obvious damage they did to the ground and flora, as they made their way up from Junction Pool.

Deon Rossouw, the CapeNature Conservation Manager for the Limietberg Nature Reserve Complex, has appealed to MCSA members and members of the public alike please to take photos and try to get the names of those involved if they observe such behaviour. The bikers are accessing mountain areas illegally, and causing erosion.
