Slangolie Peak

Leader: Don Jepson 25 May 2018 Slangolie Peak

Bad weather put paid to our scheduled hike for Thursday so we hiked on Friday instead. We had sunshine and cool conditions with some cloud to add to the vistas. After a compulsory shower as we crossed Slangolie Ravine we were soon ascending Corridor Ravine and beat the sun to the top. The vegetation has recovered well following the fire last year and we were fortunate to see a pair of Klipspringer. Once on Slangolie Peak we enjoyed the views and then found a sheltered spot for tea. As it was still cool we changed our descent route to Kasteels Poort which enabled us to stop at the ‘diving board’ on Postern Buttress for lunch and treat our Eastern Province section visitors to some more coastal views! We were back at our cars soon after 2pm.
