On Saturday 26 May 2018, 30 climbers from MCSA and UCT Mountain & Ski Club, and some of their friends, got onto the ledges around the upper cable station to clean the ledges of litter that accumulates all too quickly.
It was highly successful, with small teams allocated to specific, exposed areas. There were two parties of walkers cleaning theĀ broad ledges. In total, about 40 bags of litter were collected. A terrace umbrella was removed from the gully near Jacobs Ladder by Kevin and Warren, which was the biggest piece of litter. The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) tell us it was repaired and returned to service on the restaurant terrace.
We would like to give big thank you to City Rock for their sponsorship, TMACC for all the support, as well as to all the climbers that came to do the job and John for capturing the event with his camera for us. With another clean-up planned for late November, we hope that this will become a biannual event.
