On the morning of Thursday 4 October 2018, 14 of us met at Constantia Nek. The party split into two groups, allowing a slow warm up for some of us. We met at the turnoff from the Constantia Corner and, after a short briefing, traversed through the Proteas to the bottom of the gully.
The weather was ideal and the gully dry enough for us to climb up through it easily.
The chimneys and the scramble to the ‘top of the world’ were climbed by most of the party.
A brunch break was enjoyed in Lumbago Alley, the lower traverse on Klaassen’s Kop. After ascending to the top, with some doing a voluntary shortcut pitch, and we all had some pre-lunch fun exploring tunnels and slots.
We descended via the concrete road and the steps, reaching the cars at around 15h30.
