We had a relatively small group for this seldom done hike up the south facing side of Junction Peak. After ascending Skeleton Gorge we skirted alongside Hely Hutchinson reservoir to gain access to the upper Disa Stream path which we followed for a short way before branching off. Tea was enjoyed under an overhang overlooking the reservoir we had just passed. Then the fun started with numerous rock obstacles presenting a challenge while we snaked our way up the slope towards Junction Peak. We had lunch on the peak as the weather was fine and the views were too good to pass by. After a leisurely lunch we descended via the conventional route down towards the aqueduct and then along Smuts track and down Skeleton Gorge. The 9 of us arrived back at our cars at about 3pm.
