A small group of three met at 07h15 at East Fort on Chapman’s Peak Drive on Thursday 10 January 2019. We drove in one car to the Trail Head at the Chapman’s Peak Drive ‘day pass’ turn-around point. By 07h30 we were hiking up to Silvermine, lingering a while to enjoy the views from at the two beacons above Noordhoek.
From there we walked to Noordhoek Peak, and beyond for breakfast and tea sheltering from a fairly brisk northwest wind. We continued past Noordhoek Minor, with mist coming and going, and then down Blackburn Ravine, across the buttresses via Alfie’s Track to the Constantia Nek/East Fort path and back to the cars by 12h30. Perfect hiking conditions followed by a little drizzle at about 13h00!
