Ten of us set out at 06h50 from Theresa avenue in fairly blustery conditions. The route took us up the southern side of the buttress, until about halfway up, where we took a beverage break at the start of the Not Woody section. We set an easy pace and reached the main Apostles path by 10h15. The walk up to the base of Junction Peak was uneventful, but a clear indication of the heat to be felt later.
We took the fun route up, weaving through three caves en route, before stopping for lunch near the top in a shady spot with great views across to Suther Peak and Hout Bay. The stop at the top of Junction Peak was long enough to enjoy the 360 degree vista.
On the route down the aqueduct path, the pools proved irresistible to the bulk of the group who enjoyed a refreshing swim.
After stopping at the Mountain Club hut for water, we descended a hot KP, getting back to the cars at 16h15.
