Pimple Traverse – Table Mountain

Leader: Don Jepson 25 April 2019 Pimple Traverse – Table Mountain

We set off in ideal hiking conditions and ascended the Llandudno Ravine path as far as the last set of ‘pins’ from where we branched left towards the start of Pimple Traverse. Once on the traverse the views opened up but concentration was needed for route finding along this seldom used route. A few exposed parts together with some gymnastic moves added to the excitement! We found a lovely shaded tea spot at the end of the traverse where we soaked up the distant views. Then it was time to tackle the steep slope up Victoria Ravine. Being a small party of only 6 we made good time and decided to head for Separation Buttress, taking advantage of the calm weather to enjoy the far reaching views from the top. After lingering for a while we then headed for our descent route down Llandudno Buttress with a lunch stop along the way. We were back at the cars by 2:30pm.
