After having to cancel the previous attempt at this meet we finally managed to reach Klaassenskop, albeit via the intended descent route because of the bad weather conditions. This winter has been challenging! Six intrepid hikers set out at 7.30am with rain forecast but nevertheless with high hopes for some adventure. We were rewarded with interesting lighting effects including a rainbow, an ascent of the Camel by one of the ‘boulder’ members of the party and a 15 minute shower (of rain)! The wet lichened rocks required great care and provided an additional element of adventure. Needless to say we were down by 11.30am, feeling suitably refreshed and glad that we had forgone that extra time in bed for an experience only a few could enjoy!
