This is one of my favourite routes on Table Mountain – it has a number of features that make it stand out: interesting rock obstacles to clamber through and over; situated in a part of the mountain seldom visited; spectacular views from Junction Peak summit.
We ascended Diagonal and made our way to upper Disa Stream from where the adventure started – some off-path hiking lead to a shady overhang that provided a good place for tea. The rock obstacles that followed provided many challenges that delighted the party and kept the adrenalin flowing!
After traversing across the summit plateau we finally reached the highest point of Junction Peak at 919m where we took an early lunch break. The wind had dropped and the cloud had cleared, so we could remain on the summit and enjoy the far reaching views.
We descended via Junction cave and rejoined the Disa Stream path to take us back towards Kasteels Poort which was our descent route. The 15 of us reached our cars at 2:30pm.
