Cape Point – Paulsberg & Judas Peak

Leader: Don Jepson 15 September 2022 Cape Point – Paulsberg & Judas Peak

Don’t be put off by these two relatively low altitude peaks (Paulsberg 368m and Judas Peak 319m), they provide a rollercoaster of fun and good exercise (when starting from and returning to the Smitswinkelbay view point the total ascent is 800m).

We were enveloped in low sea mist from the start until we reached the summit of Paulsberg where we were rewarded with wonderful cloud effects and glimpses of far reaching views around us. After a leisurely tea we made our way down and back towards Judas Peak. The cloud had gone and we soaked up the views along the way.

On reaching the turnoff to Judas Peak we made our way to the summit and enjoyed a well deserved lunch break, enjoying the warmth of the sun. We could have stayed there forever but unfortunately needed to return to earth!

The total distance covered was 11.7km and took the party of eleven 7 hours to complete.
