We were treated to stunning scenery in the best hiking conditions. Our route took us from East Fort on Chapman’s Peak drive, up past the manganese mines and around to the north facing side of Constantiaberg. It was then off-path all the way to the western beacon at 940m.
We stopped for tea on the way up while soaking in the never ending views. Some members who had not yet used up all their energy took to eradicating a few hakea that are taking over the fynbos.
The beacon eventually came into sight and we were able to sit in wind free conditions and take in the 360 degree views around us.
We then descended into Silvermine and had lunch at the top of Blackburn Ravine. Our return route was via Alfies Track, arriving back at the cars at 2:30pm.
