15 of us set out at 08h00 in perfect conditions, crisp, cool and clear air with no breeze. The clarity allowed us good views of the ridge on the path up to the start. The sandy start section after leaving the main path was quite stable and the rocks thankfully quite dry.
The pitches up to the beverage break were all taken well and the one heart-stopping moment ended well thanks to Safety Net Stefan. On joining the concrete road at the top, half the male contingent including our photographer left for a quick descent. The Delicious Dozen continued winding and weaving our way through the Caveman’s Overhang traverse. We all checking the framed view down into Hout Bay although perhaps not all voluntarily.
At the tunnel entrance a near unanimous decision took us over instead of through the top of the ridge. A relaxed lunch followed with most opting to enjoy the warmth in the direct sunlight. The route through the western side of the Enchanted Forest was spectacularly refreshing as always. Time permitted the fun little loop and whilst the ‘Shimney’ was extra slippery it was well managed by everyone. After the crack we re-grouped, headed out the forest and back down to Cecilia via the road, reaching the cars at 17h00.
