Weather almost deterred 12 dapper climbers from climbing at Muizenberg as a strong South Easter reared its head on the rescheduled date of a meet postponed due to a really strong South Easter!
But a decision was made to try regardless… now with the added challenge of bleary eyes after the previous nights winning Rugby World Cup game.
A scenic walk up from Boyes Drive took us to the sheltered tea cave then teams traversed below the beautiful cliff branching off up climbs at regular intervals. Many multi pitch classics like Muizenberg Crag, Oatso Easy, Abandon, Tusk, No Name Brand and Not Just a Pretty Face were enjoyed. Gusts of wind made for a memorable but not totally unpleasant day and thankfully the descent scramble was sheltered enough to be safe.
Many thanks to all the climbers for braving the elements with smiles. Special thanks to the volunteer leaders Brian Watts, Roger Diamond, Christo Lotter for giving their time generously and, of course, to local legend Andy Killick for leading and imparting his crag and weather wisdom.
