Our party set off in beautiful weather from Constantia Nek and along the Orange Kloof track just after 07h30. At the Disa River crossing, we meandered carefully up this magical gorge, eventually having tea at the base of Hell’s Gates.
From there we scrambled up to the path approaching the old Woodhead Tunnel entrance, then continued up to the Apostle Tunnel where the water from the dam is diverted into the tunnel partly explaining the relatively little water in the river below.
From here we continued up Lower Disa Gorge to Woodhead Dam. ‘Second tea’/lunch was enjoyed at one of the dams (Alexandra Reservoir) along the Bridal Track on our way back to Constantia Nek.
Thank you all for joining me, and Ruth Knoblich for the photos.
