This was the loveliest of days. The group of nine included two brand new members who graciously rose to the challenges presented by Agatha’s Gully…. we were impressed by their courage. Our revered botanical advisor was on hand, providing many insights about plant life en route – always interesting – also sharing his tips on how to tackle each pitch.
The ascent was delightfully shaded until the top of Constantia Corner. Shortly afterwards we reached the tea spot, where we were later joined briefly by some MCSA friends doing their own walk. The Agatha’s Gully group then separated into two: four members diverted to complete the Lower Klaassenskop Traverse, which had not been feasible on the previous Thursday. They confirmed that it had been a memorable excursion, with the discovery of a new area for at least one of them, and then they even managed to cadge a lift down.
The remaining five of us completed a short tour of the top area of Klaassenskop before making the descent via jeep track and path. Thanks to everyone for their enthusiastic participation on such a glorious day.
