Our party set off bright and early (about 07h00) from the SANParks parking at Kronenzicht, Hout Bay, up to and along Rocket Road (noting the clearing of invasive alien vegetation by the Hout Bay Sugarbird Trust team above the road!). At the old Rocket Station above Oudeskip (and the wreck of The Maori 1909), we descended a bit and continued along the coast thru some dense rooikrantz (desparately need clearing) to the 1994 wreck of The BOS. From there we tackled Duiker Ridge proper, clearing a few outlier invasives (pines, rooikrantz and hakea) in the lower reaches. Tea was enjoyed higher up with wonderful views! We slogged up the last bit up to the old WW2 Radar Station, and wandered down to the view point below the beacon. The few rooikrantz outside the lower ruins were dispatched with forthwith before heading down to the vlei and then up thru the little forest to Suther Peak for lunch! From there we did the Upper Traverse with some exciting bits of rock (and tree!) scrambling before re-joining the main path down Suther Ridge back down to the sanddunes and the cars by about 15h00, with a weather front following us in!
