This is a remote piece of land in the Langeberg Mountains above Swellendam, with an overhang that’s ideal for overnighting.
Property
Beautiful and remote hiking up to overnight in the cave. Although this is the main attraction, visitors can also rent a cottage on the farm next door (operating as Somerset Gift Getaway Farm) and do day hikes from there.
History
In 1989 the MCSA bought a 3/96th undivided share in this property in the Swellendam district. It was purchased from MJL Swart thanks to an initiative taken by the Tygerberg Section. The subdivision of the farm is known as Somerset’s Gift and lies to the east of the ‘Grootrivier’.
