First-Tuesday Social - 'A romp through the Alps'
Spread across a wide range of the Alps, the first-Tuesday of the month climber's social for 2012 will feature an expose of fun routes and areas by Rob Zipplies, who has made several trips to the region, and an extended trip of late! If you missed the recent premier at the Labia, here’s your chance. This documentary (by film-maker Mark Allnutt for e.tv's Sabido Productions) tells the story of the MCSA-CT's dedicated Search & Rescue team. It shows the camaraderie & skills needed to save lives on narrow ledges, precipitous rockfaces & terrifying heights. Some of the members/movie stars will be on hand to answer questions.

Western Cape Joint Meet 31st March + 1st April 2012 The Hottentots Holland Section will offer the annual Joint Meet with hikes and scrambles in the HH- mountains. Arrival at the Johnson Hut on Vergelegen Estate in the afternoon of 31st March. Switch off your black berry. Clean your stressed body from the dust of your city with a swim in the rock pool. Braai your meat or vegan soya products at the fire place outside and enjoy the sun set over Table Mtn and Falsebay. Sleep on one of the 20 mattresses in the hut or have your privacy under the stars or in your tent. The Tongariro Crossing and Geocaching - Slide Show - Chris Handley
Chris Handley, a member of MCSA - Kwazulu-Natal, will present a slide show on the Tongariro Crossing and other walks in the Tongariro National Park. The crossing is an 18km hike across a volcanic plateau and skirts Mount Ngauruhoe which featured as Mount Doom in LOTR3. He will also give a short introduction to GeoCaching.
