The annual loyalty awards celebrate members whose contribution to and association with the Cape Town Section stretches back five or more decades.
MCSA National President, Greg Moseley, hosted the awards evening held on 19 May, to honour those who have reached the milestones of 50-, 60- and 70-year memberships of MCSA-CT. Greg had managed to extract short biographies from each recipient, which he shared with an attentive audience of friends and family members. The many stories of pioneering climbs, notable mountaineering exploits and achievements in other areas of life were inspiring. And the award recipients’ reflections on what the MCSA had meant to them, and the opportunities membership had afforded them, were moving.
A delighted Sheila Bosman was emotional as she received her 70-year certificate from GenCom Secretary, Marian Oliver. Other recipients of awards were:
