On a surprisingly warm winter’s day, 15 stalwart members undertook the interesting circumnavigation of Elsie’s Peak. The expedition consisted of a short climb to the left, from the shark lookout hut, to a contour path, which traverses under the sheer cliffs, favored by rock climbers. The route then followed a testing series of corridors and step-downs, which were performed with grace and elegance by all, before reaching a pleasant platform under the rocks for a tea-break. Thereafter the group wound its way around on a climbing traverse until the top was gained, necessitating a deserved lunch break with fine views over Fish Hoek towards Muizenberg. The descent followed the usual path through pleasant valleys and vlaktes.
