Deterred by extremely strong winds but determined to go climbing, the decision was made to divert the planned Muizenberg trad meet to the more sheltered location of Silvermine Lower sport climbing area.
An early start ensured we got the best selection of routes for a big group of 10 climbers.
Enthusiastic teams of two tackled a selection of routes from grade 13 to 20.
First time sport climbers experienced the enjoyment of leading and clipping bolts and the experienced climbers enjoyed some flying falls onto said bolts.
Seasoned trad climbers took to the relaxed sport climbing vibe!
Everyone did a selection of routes to challenge themselves then trickled home.
Many thanks to all participants for the supportive environment for the novice climbers and for all the encouragement to other climbers.
