After a fortnight of curtailed hiking due to rainy weather, our strong group of eight had plenty of energy for this route which was ‘acceptably’ dry. Observing the warning cloud on top of Lion’s Head, we made good time up the Porcupine ravine section and were blessed with some welcome sunshine on Jubilee Buttress, where we stopped for tea.
Continuing up, we explored Valken Cracks, took in the viewpoint and had a second break overlooking the MCSA Hut and dams. At this point some clouds seemed to be coming in up the ravines, but happily they did not persist. Our descent of KP in warmer temperatures followed. With plenty of lively chat and good humour, it was a really fun day out. Thanks to all for their company.
