A group of eight hikers attended the hike from Olifantsbos parking to Sirkelsvlei and back in an anticlockwise direction. There were some interesting botanical finds, especially the large population of Staavia dodii (more commonly referred to as Diamondeyes) and a solitary Liparia parva in flower. There was a short diversion to view the now derelict military observation post from World War II situated close to the Olifantsbosch beacon. The hike to the vlei was easy, with many boggy areas encountered along the way. The brunch stop was at the vlei itself, which is fuller than any of the hikers remember. The return route included an obligatory stop at the letterbox for a team photo.
