Fourteen of us gathered at the car park to prepare for action with baboons since they had harassed us there last Tuesday. Blessedly not one appeared all day! And the weather was cool enough for walking, while warm enough for swimming, except for a sneaky breeze at the top pool. We also decided it was time for a group photo of this happy group just before descending to Top Pool. That sounds Irish, but one has to descend from the highest level of the route to that pool, then ascend again in order to start the descent to the lower pools.
This was certainly an enthusiastic group, enjoying each beautiful pool on offer. The pace, being good, even allowed us time in an extra pool. No eel sighting today, but the men spied a rope that had recently been attached to the side of the Crystal Pool rock wall (see photo). This enabled those agile ones to see what was in the ‘hidden pool’ above the main pool into which one of the waterfalls landed (see photo – no camera to show us what they saw though). And then of course the long jumps from there were a great attraction!
Those who didn’t jump enjoyed the swims and sunshine, and just being in that really beautiful environment for a whole day.
Correction of the last report about route markings. The route crosses to the other side of the river at Reed Pool, not Deep Pool, apologies.
