Seven lucky hikers struck gold on a clear and sunny winter’s day. Today’s route followed Constantia Corner until it veered off onto a faint trail that cut left above Orange Kloof.
The trail gradually narrowed until we reached an exposed ledge that acted as the gatekeeper to Agatha’s Gully. After a careful step, we continued along the ledge, eventually reaching a tight, wet watercourse.
As the gully’s gates beckoned, we passed through a low overhang, a hideout of gnarled ancient trees that guided us through their twisted limbs. Soon, unobstructed views opened up over Orange Kloof. A natural rock chair, or “nature’s throne,” provided the perfect spot to contemplate future routes along the back table.
Each trail offers a unique experience, a glimpse into a different world. Agatha’s Gully delivers just that—a bite-sized burst of fun scrambling through dense foliage with breathtaking views.
After reconnecting with Constantia Corner, we took a well-deserved tea break at an iconic spot. A few dassie crawls to the left and right revealed natural amphitheater seating where we enjoyed homemade koesisters.
We descended down Cecilia Ridge for one last photo beneath Cecilia Waterfall before heading back to our vehicles at Constantia Nek.
