The midwinter trad meet proved to be popular. Beautiful weather, a stunning venue and lots of enthusiastic climbers contributed to its success.
22 climbers, with experience ranging from total novice trad climbers to extremely experienced climbers, met at the shark spotters hut in Fish Hoek. Partners were introduced, gear was distributed and everyone headed up to the cliff. Parties spread out over the large sun baked rock face, close enough for banter but spaced enough to be able to enjoy the experience.
Routes climbed were Rattle 13, Frankenstein 14, Amphitheater Wall 11, Suspension Face 12, Dracula 14 and Backlash 17.
Fun was enjoyed, limits were stretched and minor epics were had.
Most parties enjoyed the scenic walk down while some abseiled and relaxed in the tea cave.
Many thanks to all attendees for sharing the day and to the generous leaders for their guidance and patience.
