TM Frontal Traverse

Leader: Alex le Roux 13 July 2025 TM Frontal Traverse

In mid June a fellow hiker and I found ourselves inspecting the line of the Sky Walk from the top of Yellowstone Gully, at the start of the Right Face Arrow Face Traverse.

We considered the attractions and drawbacks of the Sky Walk, and although it has one splendid section of ledge traverses from Yellowstone Gully to Platteklip Gorge at about 900m of elevation, there are various other parts of it which are not quite as inspiring. So we got on to musing about how it could be improved, given that there are many wonderful route options in close proximity. This turned out to be a rewarding project.

What more could you want than a reason to go and play around Traverse of the Gods, Kloof Corner Ridge, India Window, the Arrow Face to Right Face Traverse, the Sky Walk and Mystery B, finding ways to link them all together? This route is the result. It puts together a good deal of action, excitement and fun, and visits some superb places on the mountain.
