Twelve hikers joined me on this hike which covers very familiar ground. The day was overcast & mild with barely a breeze until the top. We branched off towards Nursery Ravine: most of the company were willing to negotiate the short, exposed section via the cave and overhang at the top Nursery Buttress. We were reunited with the rest of the group for a pleasant tea stop among the rock formations.
One of the party elected to descend via Nursery at this point, while the rest of us went on to Ash Valley, summitting Reserve Peak on route. Dam levels were observed to be full, with no more ‘beach’ visible.
We hiked onwards, stopping for a second break before tackling the descent of Cecelia Ridge. An advance party formed here, happily all members arriving safely at the start by around 14:30.
