On this day there was an age gap of 40 years between the youngest participant and the oldest!
Destination – Disa Gorge in the restricted area of Orange Kloof Nature Reserve. Teresa’s dislike for the ring road in Orange Kloof resulted in the choice of an unusual route. 9 hikers set off early from Theresa Avenue to ascend Kasteelspoort in pleasant shade. Then past Woodhead Dam wall to descend Disa Gorge where Teresa’s SanParks permit was essential. The few Club veterans enjoyed the opportunity to meet new Club members one of which surprised the group at the tea stop by presenting a bottle of MCC and fresh Cherries ! The hikers imbibed cautiously as they still had to negotiate the second half of the day’s route.
A lunch break was enjoyed at Rendezvous Cave. Descending Kasteelspoort at midday was physically hard as temperatures had risen substantially.
All together a great day on our beloved mountain.
