Our group of 12, including a Stellenbosch guest, departed slightly behind schedule, but a moderately brisk pace up Diagonal was soon established to make up for the late start.
We enjoyed a mix of walking on path and good dry watercourse scrambling up Blind Gully.
A sunny breakfast stop was enjoyed at the base of Blinkwater Needle with cold watermelon slices shared. While some party members refuelled, several adventurous souls took the opportunity to scramble up the rocky promontory, enjoying the spectacular views afforded by the clear conditions.
After the final push to the summit we joined the Twelve Apostles path and detoured to explore the charming tunnel near the Yellowwoods cave, which is always a crowd pleaser.
The party then split into two groups, allowing some to explore further to the Club hut and dams before descending via Kasteelspoort.
Everyone arrived safely back at the cars, tired but in high spirits.
