A group of ten members and one guest met at the start of the Saddle Path. Even at 7am it was fairly warm but the start was pleasantly shaded until we reached the stone ruin. After a view break, we continued up the ridge on the sketchiest of paths, which is rather bushed over with prickly gorse. The two or three scrambling sections seemed to pose no significant challenges. An early tea break to refuel followed (with one of the party catching a snooze) before we tackled the final gully. After a short pause at the overhang, the rest of the ridge was completed easily, so we sat and enjoyed the city and peninsula views over another cup of tea. Ivor kindly identified some P. grandiceps bushes, a species which was listed as near threatened.
Return descent was made using the saddle path, concluding this very pleasant hike at around 11am.
