In spite of the somewhat ‘dicey’ weather conditions, all eight members who applied for the Meet pitched at our meeting point at East Fort, Chapman’s Peak Drive to car-pool to the trail head further along the Drive. From there we ‘soldiered up’ through the cloud/mist (and thanks Pat for spotting a lonely little pine tree and cutting it down!) to summit a cold windy Noordhoek Peak for a few minutes before beating a hasty retreat! Then blundered on cheerfully through the cloud with a chilly drizzle in places … undulating along the Panorama ups and down (sans the usual panoramic views!), eventually sheltering from the elements (for a very welcome tea break) at the base of the last buttress before descending Blackburn Ravine. Part way down the ravine, Hout Bay managed to peep tentatively through the clouds, eventually popping out … brightly displaying her normal magnificent views of the mountains and the sea! We deviated from the Ravine path to traverse along the lovely Alfie’s Track (just below the cliffs on Constantiaberg) for our ‘second tea’ at the little cave, from where we descended via the Constantia Nek/East Fort path, back to our cars waiting below. Thank you all for your excellent company!
