The 15 of us were treated to ideal hiking conditions and wonderful cloud effects. Our ascent to Noordhoek Peak was from the ‘turn around point’ on Chapman’s Peak drive. We reached the summit after 1hr 45min and were surounded by cloud.
We had a leisurely tea break and as we were about to leave, the cloud started to disperse and from then on we had varying views down towards Hout Bay.
The Panorama route was followed along the buttresses and we were positioned at the top of Blackburn Ravine after about 1.5hrs. We soaked in the ever changing views along the way.
By the time we satrted our descent the sun was startig to break through the cloud. We chose to take the Alfies track variation lower down and were back at the cars by 12:45pm after 10km and 700m total ascent.
