Since Constantia Nek lacks available parking after 7:00 AM on weekends, and we wanted to avoid an early start with the kids on a Sunday, we moved our meeting point and began a bit later.
After a relaxed walk up the jeep track, both the children and adults enjoyed the scramble up to the beacon on Eagle’s Nest. The previous night’s rain left the mountain feeling fresh and calm. Although it was very windy at the top, we found enough large rocks and sheltered nooks to gather, share treats, and discuss future hike ideas. We took a different route back, and it was certainly one of the most relaxed outings we have had with the family hikes group.
Everyone enjoyed the day, and there was a shared sense that we all needed a break from the usual pace of the school term.
