The Ledges route was first climbed by Harris, Nash, Rogers, and Rolls in 1892.
Carrells Ledge was first climbed by Italian Mountaineers Jean-Antoine Carrell in 1890.
The party of 12 met at the Saddle Path at 8am and ascended this to the Knife Edge which was traversed to the start of the Ledges route. After much scrambling, the sighting of a berg adder the felling of alien trees and a short roped pitch the party proceeded to traverse the exposed Carrellls Ledge. Lunch at Maclear’s Beacon was followed by a cable way descent with the party being back at the cars by 15.30.
