The party of 7 met at the shark spotters’ hut on Elsie’s Peak at 8 am and walked towards Outlook Ridge, where everyone put on climbing harnesses (two of which were Whillans harnesses).
After an exposed scramble, a rope was used for the 30-metre ascent to the exposed traverse.
Packs were passed through the cave at the end of the traverse.
The rope was again used for a short, tricky, exposed move, whereafter the party scrambled to the summit.
After a short lunch break, the party followed the path back to the shark spotters’ hut, which was reached at 1.30 pm.
